Baseball Recap: St. Mary Extends Winning Streak to Nine

St. Mary strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Calloway County Lakers 14-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 last Friday.

St. Mary let Andrew Puckett and Luke Sims run wild. Puckett went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Sims went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Sims also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Jake Morris was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

St. Mary's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Calloway County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

St. Mary will be playing at home against Livingston Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.22 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Calloway County, they will head out to square off against Trigg County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
