Baseball Recap: Terryville Kangaroos vs. Shepaug Valley Spartans
Terryville had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it six. They lost 14-4 to the Shepaug Valley Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 back in April.
As for Shepaug Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
For Shepaug Valley's part, they got a massive performance out of Rocco Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was JP Knox, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Coming up, Terryville will venture away from home to take on Thomaston at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shepaug Valley, they will welcome Gilbert at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans are facing the Yellowjackets at the right time seeing as the Yellowjackets are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
