Softball Recap: Kenowa Hills Takes a Loss

Kenowa Hills had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 7-17 to make it five. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sparta Spartans. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Sparta, their record is now 17-12. They haven't had any issues with Kenowa Hills recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

For Sparta's part, Taliya Dauser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 18 Ks. Dauser has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Paige Wilcox, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alexa VanVliet, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sparta beat Kenowa Hills by a score of 14-4 later that day.
