Football Recap: Carter Smith Key Part of Team Effort in Eagles Win + How To Watch

Blue Mountain won the last time they faced Tamaqua and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles strolled past the Blue Raiders with points to spare, taking the game 34-20. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Blue Raiders are ranked 241st).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Blue Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Smith, who rushed for 105 yards and two scores on only 12 carries. Smith is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 4-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Cohen Kirby was another key signal caller, throwing for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Blue Mountain proved: they limited Tamaqua to a paltry three yards per carry. While one picked up at least six total tackles, Josh Hoover stood above the rest. He picked up 62 receiving yards and one TD. Blue Mountain is a perfect 4-0 when they shut down the run game so well.

Tamaqua's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ace Schickram, who picked up 72 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Terrence McDowell Jr handled things on the ground, rushing for 113 yards.

Blue Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.3 points over those games. As for Tamaqua, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

As of now, neither Blue Mountain nor the Blue Raiders have any future games scheduled.
