Basketball Recap: Riverside Drops Season-High Score on Wade Hampton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverside). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Wade Hampton Generals 100-8. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Generals are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverside had a senior duo take command as Elly Trickett went 9 of 11 on her way to 21 points and six rebounds and Madison Garrido almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. Garrido has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 23 times she's played. Kyndal Haroski was another key player, going 8 for 13 to rack up 17 points and three steals.

Riverside was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

The victory (which was Riverside's third in a row) raised their record to 15-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points over those games. As for Wade Hampton, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Riverside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-18 win against Eastside on the 4th. As for Wade Hampton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 43-12 loss against Boiling Springs on the 3rd.
