Baseball Preview: Central City/Centura Kernels vs. Wayne Blue Devils

Central City/Centura has won four straight games at home, while Wayne has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Kernels will welcome the Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Central City/Centura 3.7, Wayne 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Conner Erickson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Morner, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Wayne never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against Tekamah-Herman as they made off with a 12-0 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Wayne got a massive performance out of Brodey Munter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The Blue Devils are undefeated when Munter posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Adrian Contreras was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Central City/Centura has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wayne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
