Basketball Game Preview: Sound Christian Lions vs. North Beach Hyaks

The Sound Christian Lions and the North Beach Hyaks will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sound Christian will be strutting in after a win while North Beach will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, Sound Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Evergreen Lutheran, but they still walked away with a 52-47 victory. The 52-point effort marked the Lions' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Sound Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Makai Resseau, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 21 points and three steals, and Moses Stiver, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. The game was Resseau's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Conley Baker, who posted five points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, North Beach played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Elma an easy 61-37 win.

North Beach's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Sound Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Sound Christian took their win against North Beach in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 60-37. Will Sound Christian repeat their success, or does North Beach have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
