Basketball Recap: Asany Richmond's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Life Christian Academy over Westover

New Life Christian Academy lost against Westover back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The New Life Christian Academy Monarchs fell just short of the Westover Wolverines by a score of 57-54. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Wolverines are ranked 174th).

Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Asany Richmond, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Richmond's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyle Baldwin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards.

This is the second loss in a row for New Life Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 10-15. As for Westover, their record is now 11-6.

New Life Christian Academy will face off against Wayne Preparatory Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Wayne Preparatory Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games. As for Westover, they will challenge Harnett Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
