Baseball Game Preview: Benjamin Buccaneers vs. St. John Paul II Academy Eagles

The Benjamin Buccaneers will challenge the St. John Paul II Academy Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Benjamin's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so St. John Paul II Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Benjamin took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Royal Palm Beach by a score of 7-3.

The team relied heavily on Brandon Owens, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Johnny Havlicek also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Owens wasn't the only one making solid contact: Benjamin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, St. John Paul II Academy owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over King's Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Jack Wilhoit looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, St. John Paul II Academy's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lincoln Dorland, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Benjamin now has a winning record of 13-12. As for St. John Paul II Academy, their record is now 15-7-1.

Benjamin skirted past St. John Paul II Academy 2-0 when the teams last played back in March. Do the Buccaneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
