Flag Football Game Preview: Whitney Wildcats vs. Rocklin Thunder + How To Watch

The Whitney Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Rocklin Thunder at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Whitney is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Oak Ridge just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 13-7 to the Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Trojans are ranked 18th).

Despite the loss, Whitney saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lulu Im threw for 200 yards while completing 72.2% of her passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.

Even if they lost, Whitney's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Kayla Mougeotte was the leader with two.

Meanwhile, Rocklin scored first but ultimately less than Del Oro in their matchup on Tuesday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 13-12 to the Golden Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Thunder have lost by just one point.

Rocklin suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 7-9. As for Whitney, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Whitney came up short against Rocklin in their previous meeting back in September, falling 19-13. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Thunder's Renee Dragseth, who threw for 232 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground.
