Baseball Game Preview: Onalaska Wildcats vs. Huntington Red Devils

The Onalaska Wildcats will face off against the Huntington Red Devils on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Onalaska is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They beat Boling by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-3. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Meanwhile, Huntington never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Anahuac.

Peyton Herrington and Evan Aldava did most of the damage at the plate: Herrington went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Aldava went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan Fitzgerald, who earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Onalaska's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Huntington, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6-1 record this season.

Onalaska might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Huntington when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
