Baseball Recap: Norwood Triumphs

Norwood posted their closest win since April 17th on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Ava Bears. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 5-0 win the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Cooper Vaughan, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Norwood and bumps their season record up to 15-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Ava, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season.

Norwood will venture away from home to square off against Alton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ava, they will welcome Spokane at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
