Baseball Recap: Erie Comes Up Short

The Erie Tigers didn't have quite enough to beat the West Albany Bulldogs on Saturday and fell 9-8. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Erie got a good showing from Jeremiah Flaum, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Flaum a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Ronin Ward made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Kodie Shafter was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Erie's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for West Albany, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Erie will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Ralston Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Albany, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-2 defeat against Apollo on the 22nd.
