Baseball Recap: Chavez Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wasco, Chavez was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Kennedy Thunderbirds, sneaking past 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won four in a row.

Jacob Sixtos made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Benji Perez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Chavez pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kennedy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-12 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chavez beat the Thunderbirds by a score of 7-1 on Thursday.
