Basketball Game Preview: South Platte Blue Knights vs. Creek Valley Storm

South Platte and Creek Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The South Platte Blue Knights will be taking part in a tournament against the Creek Valley Storm at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Platte is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, South Platte really took it to Minatare for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-26 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-10.

South Platte had a senior duo take command as Quinten Koenen went 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points and five boards and Nathan Jacobs went 8 of 11 en route to 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jacobs has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Oscar Ornelas, who went 5 for 7 en route to 10 points and six rebounds.

South Platte was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Creek Valley hadn't done well against Bayard recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Creek Valley came out on top against Bayard by a score of 53-46.

South Platte is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Creek Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.

South Platte was able to grind out a solid win over Creek Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 47-40. Will South Platte repeat their success, or does Creek Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
