Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Quitman

While Quitman put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Minden. Everything went the Quitman Wolverines' way against the Minden Crimson Tide as the Quitman Wolverines made off with an 11-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Crimson Tide: they've now won five in a row.

Brenna Lamkin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lamkin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Leach, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Maggie Guyotte was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Quitman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Quitman pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Minden, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Quitman will host Ruston at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Quitman's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Ruston's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Minden, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Doyline at 5:00 p.m.
