Softball Recap: Seymour Wins Going Away Against New Albany

Seymour lost a heartbreaker the last time they played New Albany, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Owls were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Phoebe Underwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Seymour let Abby Followell and Lainey Sandlin run wild. Followell went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Sandlin went 4-for-5 with two runs and two doubles. Those four hits gave Sandlin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Stuckwisch, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Seymour and bumps their season record up to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for New Albany, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Seymour will be playing at home against Columbus East at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Albany, they will venture away from home to face off against Bloomington North at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
