Basketball Game Preview: Wyoming Valley West Spartans vs. Hazleton Area Cougars

Wyoming Valley West hasn't had much luck against Hazleton Area recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wyoming Valley West Spartans will head out to challenge the Hazleton Area Cougars at 7:15 p.m.

Wyoming Valley West is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game dating back to last season two weeks ago. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-54 heartbreaker at the hands of Executive Education Academy Charter School.

Meanwhile, Hazleton Area was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Pittston 76-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Hazleton Area's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Wyoming Valley West, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Wyoming Valley West was taken down by Hazleton Area 81-41 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Wyoming Valley West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
