Recap: North Newton Spartans vs. Twin Lakes Indians
The North Newton Spartans struggled with assists on Saturday (the Twin Lakes Indians had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with North Newton falling 64-48. They lost against Twin Lakes in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 55-52 score last time.
North Newton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Evan Gagnon, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Gagnon scored a full 33.3% of North Newton's points, the 11th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Joe Stalewski was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Jamison Ousley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Twin Lakes, scoring 36 points. The contest was Ousley's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Businger, who scored 15 points.
North Newton's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5. As for Twin Lakes, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
North Newton will look to defend their home court on Friday against Faith Christian at 8:00 p.m. Faith Christian is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Twin Lakes and Kankakee Valley will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Kankakee Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
