Softball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Skyline can now relate to. They fell 4-1 to the Jackson Timberwolves on Friday. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Timberwolves earlier this season, when they won 8-0.

Abby Haapala spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Skyline saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Piper Swanson, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Skyline and nudges their season record down to 22-5. As for Jackson, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season.

Skyline wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-4 victory against Eastmont on the 23rd. As for Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 win against North Creek on the 23rd.
