Basketball Recap: Meredith Bockrath's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kalida over Crestview

Kalida lost against Crestview back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Kalida Wildcats received a blow as they fell 50-36 to the Crestview Knights. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Knights are ranked 69th).

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Meredith Bockrath, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addilyn Huber, who earned six points.

Crestview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Kline, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 17 points and six assists. Kaci Gregory was another key player, putting up 12 points and six assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Kalida and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Crestview, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Kalida will welcome Archbold at 1:30 p.m. on December 28th. As for Crestview, they will venture away from home to square off against Ottawa-Glandorf at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Ottawa-Glandorf's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
