Basketball Recap: Upper Scioto Valley Rams vs. Elgin Comets

The Upper Scioto Valley Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 52-25 loss at the hands of Elgin. Upper Scioto Valley has struggled against the Comets recently, as their match on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Defeat or not, Upper Scioto Valley got some senior leadership from Patiance Cole and Nevaeh Lowery. Cole scored four points along with 11 rebounds and two steals, while Lowery. scored ten points along with two steals. Cole has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elgin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maycee Muselin, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Samantha Girton, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.

Upper Scioto Valley has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Elgin, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upper Scioto Valley will take on the Redskins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Arcadia presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Rams in Ohio (the Redskins are ranked 235th, while the Rams are ranked 711th). As for Elgin, they will be playing at home against the Commodores at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Perry is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
