Baseball Recap: Oakland Tech Gets the Win

Oakland Tech was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Monta Vista Matadors 2-0.

Elijah Rucker was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run.

Rucker wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kalen Thomas, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Oakland Tech's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-7. As for Monta Vista, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-4 record.

Coming up, Oakland Tech will challenge McClymonds at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monta Vista, they will square off against Harker at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
