Basketball Recap: Spartanburg's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Spartanburg ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They secured a 58-53 W over the Catawba Ridge Copperheads. The win was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

When it comes to explaining why Catawba Ridge lost, don't look at Mark Caslaru. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 18 on his way to 23 points and six boards. Caslaru has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Isaiah Thomas was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Spartanburg's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Catawba Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spartanburg will host T.L. Hanna at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Catawba Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Chapin at 7:45 p.m.
