Baseball Recap: Ayvari Chandler Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat South Fayette

While Trinity's victory against South Fayette wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hillers never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Hillers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.

Jackson Burt looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Trinity saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayvari Chandler, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Chandler a new career-high.

Trinity's record now sits at 7-5. As for South Fayette, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity will face off against Thomas Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Hillers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for South Fayette, they will square off against South Park at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Eagles have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
