Baseball Game Preview: Forestview Jaguars vs. East Gaston Warriors

Forestview is 2-8 against East Gaston since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Forestview not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th. They put the hurt on Huss with a sharp 8-1 victory.

Forestview let Alex Nance and Henry Jarman run wild. Nance scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Jarman scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Jarman a new career-high. Liam Pepper was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, East Gaston made easy work of Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy on Thursday and carried off a 12-2 win. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly ten runs.

Jaiden Crouch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Crouch was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base.

In other batting news, East Gaston got a massive performance out of Cameron Barnette, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. The Warriors are 7-2 when Barnette posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zane Dodd, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for East Gaston and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Forestview, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Forestview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like East Gaston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
