Softball Recap: Decatur Takes a Loss

On Tuesday, the Decatur Eagles came up short against the Eagle Mountain Knights and fell 7-4.

Alexa Beeson put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Beeson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Beeson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hallie Washburn, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave Washburn a new career-high.

Decatur's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-4. As for Eagle Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, Decatur and Eagle Mountain will both be playing Springtown the next time they take the field. Decatur will head out to face Springtown at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Eagle Mountain will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
