Basketball Recap: Ayden - Grifton Takes a Loss

Ayden - Grifton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They fell 53-42 to the Greene Central Rams. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chargers of the 48-21 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

An'Nysha Wooten was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds for Greene Central. Another player making a difference was Arlisha Mason, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points.

Ayden - Grifton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Greene Central, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ayden - Grifton will take on Southside at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Southside will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Ayden - Grifton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Greene Central, they will challenge Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
