Softball Game Preview: Overbrook Rams vs. Highland Regional Tartans

For the first time this season, Overbrook will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to square off against the Highland Regional Tartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Overbrook will be strutting in after a victory while Highland Regional will be coming in after a loss.

If Overbrook beats Highland Regional with 11 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Overbrook won by a run and slipped past Gateway Regional 11-10. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Layla Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Landolt, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. Cecelia Mitchell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Highland Regional was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They came up short against Timber Creek Regional, falling 9-0. The Tartans have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Overbrook's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Highland Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Overbrook might still be hurting after the 11-5 loss they got from Highland Regional in their previous meeting back in March of 2017. Can Overbrook avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
