East Wilkes lost against Surry Central back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 3-2. While the Cardinals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Golden Eagles 25-11 in the first set.
East Wilkes actually scored more points across those five sets (104-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 11-25, 25-21, 21-25, 26-24, 15-9.

Despite the loss, East Wilkes still got an impressive performance from Leila Dobbins, who had 22 digs, 11 kills, and two aces. Dobbins is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. Olivia Staley was another key player, getting 21 digs and ten kills.
Surry Central was led to victory by Kenzie Hooker and Presley Smith. Hooker had 32 digs, five kills, and two aces, while Smith had 24 digs, 14 kills, and two aces. Those 32 digs gave Hooker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stella Wall, who had 16 digs and three assists.
East Wilkes' loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Surry Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
East Wilkes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Ashe County on the 2nd. As for Surry Central, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against West Stokes on the 2nd.
