Basketball Recap: Eagleville Takes a Loss

Eagleville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Richland Raiders, falling 68-31. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Raiders are ranked 25th).

Leading Richland to victory were Shelby Higgins and Bailey Blair. Higgins went 8 of 14 on her way to 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Blair went 7 for 11 en route to 17 points and five assists. Blair's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kate Kirk was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Eagleville's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Richland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Eagleville has already played their next matchup (against Huntland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Richland will be playing in front of their home fans against Santa Fe at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Richland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
