Baseball Game Preview: Everglades Gators vs. McArthur Mustangs

The Everglades Gators will head out to take on the McArthur Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Everglades will be strutting in after a victory while McArthur will be coming in after a loss.

Everglades is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since February 20th on Saturday. They skirted past Cardinal Gibbons 13-12.

Everglades let Anthony Lugo and Eliezer Romero run wild. Lugo went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Romero went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Romero a new career-high. Gabriel Billini was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Everglades always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, McArthur was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against St. Thomas Aquinas, falling 16-0.

McArthur's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Everglades, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Everglades suffered a grim 15-7 defeat to McArthur in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
