Preview: Manchester Valley Mavericks vs. Tuscarora Titans
The Manchester Valley Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Tuscarora Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Manchester Valley has four straight wins, Tuscarora has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Manchester Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Francis Scott Key, taking the game 57-45. Given Manchester Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Francis Scott Key is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Manchester Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brendan Luddy out in front who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Strohman, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Tuscarora ended up a good deal behind North Hagerstown on Friday and lost 69-53. Tuscarora has struggled against North Hagerstown recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Manchester Valley pushed their record up to 6-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Tuscarora, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Manchester Valley beat Tuscarora 54-46 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Manchester Valley repeat their success, or does Tuscarora have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
