Basketball Recap: Chapman Panthers vs. Travelers Rest Devildogs

The Chapman Panthers waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 51-46 W over Travelers Rest. This was payback for Chapman, who suffered a 53-41 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Krislyn Wilder was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Mcdaniel, who scored nine points along with two steals.

When it comes to explaining why Travelers Rest lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gabriella Huskey. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 41.3% of Travelers Rest's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ellie Crain was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Chapman's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Travelers Rest, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.

Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Blue Ridge the next time they take the court. Chapman will head out to face the Fighting Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Devildogs will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
