Softball Recap: Western Warriors vs. Bonanza Bengals
Western extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-12. They lost 18-3 to the Bonanza Bengals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bengals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-3 back in March.
As for Bonanza, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
For Bonanza's part, Ayla Murphy was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Murphy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Araceli Nason, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Western will challenge rival Durango at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Bonanza is set to square off against their familiar foe Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
