Baseball Recap: Richmond Takes a Loss

Richmond extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-17 in the process. They came up short against the St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins, falling 16-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 on Wednesday.

As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games.

For St. Patrick-St. Vincent's part, Vincent Cary was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Cary a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dominic Petersen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Richmond will square off against Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.17 runs per game on average), something the Oilers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, they will challenge Swett at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight.
