Basketball Recap: Central Cabarrus Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Central Cabarrus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Butler Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 80-60 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Central Cabarrus still got an impressive performance from Parker Watkins, who went 9-for-22 en route to 28 points. The contest was Watkins' fourth in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dexter Montague, who shot 41% from the field on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Central Cabarrus' defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Butler, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Coming up, Central Cabarrus will venture away from home to square off against Hickory Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Butler, they will welcome Northwest Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
