Atwater is a perfect 10-0 against Buhach Colony since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Falcons will welcome the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. Atwater is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Atwater's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Golden Valley as they made off with an 8-0 win. The Falcons have beaten the Cougars the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.
Kylie Medina was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Medina was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Madi Hiler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Riley Leonardo, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Atwater kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Golden Valley only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Buhach Colony, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Los Banos 8-7.
Like Atwater, Buhach Colony also got a great game from a two-way player: Leslie Gutierrez. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gutierrez was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Runyan Rocha, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI. Madelyn Zamarripa also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Atwater's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Buhach Colony, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Everything went Atwater's way against Buhach Colony when the teams last played back in March, as Atwater made off with a 20-1 win. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
