Baseball Recap: New Lothrop Victorious

New Lothrop posted their closest win since April 9th on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Birch Run Panthers. This was a revenge game for the Hornets: when they faced off against the Panthers on Monday, they had to take a 10-8 loss.

Logan Judd was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Zane Rumisek was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

New Lothrop now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Birch Run, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Lothrop will head out to take on Lakeville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Birch Run, they will challenge Montrose at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
