Soccer Game Preview: Riverside vs. Scott

The Riverside Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Scott Skyhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Riverside fell victim to Cabell Midland and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Knights. While losing is never fun, Riverside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Cabell Midland are ranked 11th).

Meanwhile, Scott's game on Saturday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They won by a goal and slipped past Lincoln County 2-1. The game was the first time Scott have beaten Lincoln County on their pitch since October 5, 2019.

Scott's win bumped their record up to 5-6-2. As for Riverside, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10-1.

Riverside came out on top in a nail-biter against Scott when the teams last played on September 2nd, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
