Basketball Recap: Seton Hall Prep Skates Past Weequahic with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Seton Hall Prep's strategy against Weequahic on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Seton Hall Prep Pirates blew the Weequahic Indians out of the water with an 82-46 final score. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly 36 points.

Leading Seton Hall Prep to victory were Anthony Gonzalez and Dylan Guzzardo. Gonzalez posted 14 points in addition to five assists and five boards, while Guzzardo put up 15 points along with six assists and five boards. Gonzalez is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Collin Reese, who had eight points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Seton Hall Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Despite the loss, Weequahic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bart Jordan went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riyahd McDonald, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

The win was the third in a row for Seton Hall Prep, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Weequahic, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
