Softball Game Preview: Taft Wildcats vs. Delano Tigers

For the second straight game, Taft will face off against Delano. The Wildcats will face off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Taft has three straight wins, Delano has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

It was a proper cat-fight when Taft duked it out with Delano on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Tigers. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Rilynne Stenderup spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Taft let Rylee Owens and Jaycee Edgar run wild. Owens went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Edgar went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Edgar a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Heaven Laux, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Taft hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matchups.

Delano's defeat dropped their record down to 6-19-1. As for Taft, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
