Volleyball Recap: St. Mary's Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Andrew Zumout and Dylan Neves

After a string of three wins, St. Mary's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Lodi Flames. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flames this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

St. Mary's started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23.

Dylan Neves and Andrew Zumout certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Neves had 25 digs and two aces, while Zumout had 12 digs. Neves is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least 20 every time he's taken the court this season.

St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Lodi, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

St. Mary's wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against West on the 10th. As for Lodi, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Tracy on the 10th.
