Football Recap: Sonoma Valley Dragons vs. Piner Prospectors
Sonoma Valley put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 35-7 win over the Piner Prospectors at home. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Prospectors are ranked 566th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cayden Waldrop was his usual excellent self, rushing for 145 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 145 rushing yards dating back to last season. Austin Hughes also helped out with an impressive 117 receiving yards.

Despite the loss, Piner still got an impressive performance from Apollo Pereira, who picked up 60 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 35 yards. The dominant performance gave Pereira a new career-high in rushing yards.
Sonoma Valley's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Piner, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Sonoma Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 42-7 win against San Rafael on the 4th. Piner has also already played their next game, a 42-26 victory against Santa Rosa on the 4th.
