Soccer Game Preview: North Surry vs. Starmount

The North Surry Greyhounds are taking a road trip to take on the Starmount Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

North Surry managed to keep up with Wilkes Central until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Greyhounds came up short against the Eagles, falling 4-0. The loss continues a trend for North Surry in their meetings with Wilkes Central: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Starmount entered their tilt with East Wilkes on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Cardinals. The game was the first time Starmount have beaten East Wilkes on their pitch since April 12, 2022.

North Surry's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5-4. As for Starmount, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6-1.

Everything went North Surry's way against Starmount in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as North Surry made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greyhounds since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
