The Vacaville Christian Falcons will venture away from home to face off against the Mesa Verde Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mesa Verde will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Vacaville Christian extended their winning streak to five on Thursday. Everything went the Falcons' way against San Juan as they made off with a 14-2 victory.
Aron Kagin and Isaac Stanley made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kagin tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Stanley tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kagin has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Kagin scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Stanley scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Stanley a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Stevens, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Vacaville Christian is undefeated when Stevens posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Dakari Carnell-Palmerton was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Vacaville Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.
Meanwhile, Mesa Verde got the win against Highlands on Thursday by a conclusive 9-1. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Scots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Caden Seevers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

Vacaville Christian's record is now 7-4. As for Mesa Verde, their record now sits at 15-3.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Vacaville Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Mesa Verde struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Vacaville Christian's way against Mesa Verde in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Vacaville Christian made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
