Recap: Clarkson/Leigh Patriots vs. Johnson County Central Thunderbirds
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They snuck past Johnson County Central with a 38-34 victory. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Clarkson/Leigh got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Brichacek out in front who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 118 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Brichacek was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Trey Steffensmeier was in the mix as well, providing Clarkson/Leigh with two touchdowns.
Clarkson/Leigh is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Johnson County Central, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.
Clarkson/Leigh will head out on the road to face off against St. Patrick's on Friday. St. Patrick's will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Johnson County Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
