Basketball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

Madison had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it five. They fell 49-40 to the Patton Panthers. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 44-30.

Patton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Melina Bernabe was the offensive standout of the contest as she posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Chapman, who put up 15 points.

Looking ahead, Madison will take on Tuscola at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Patton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-26 victory against NCSSM: Morganton on the 3rd.
