Basketball Game Preview: Canfield Cardinals vs. West Branch Warriors

The Canfield Cardinals will square off against the West Branch Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Canfield sitting on three straight wins and West Branch on six.

Canfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Salem as Canfield made off with a 47-23 victory. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 24 points or more this season.

West Geauga typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday West Branch proved too difficult a challenge. They secured a 44-39 W over the Wolverines.

West Branch's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points over those games. As for Canfield, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.

Canfield was able to grind out a solid win over West Branch in their previous matchup back in January, winning 50-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Canfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
