Paloma Valley and Newbury Park squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Paloma Valley had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Panthers. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

While Paloma Valley was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Newbury Park's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-21, 25-22.

Jhomar Yanga paced Paloma Valley's offense, picking up 12 kills. Yanga got some help from Erick Fernando and his 14 assists.

Paloma Valley's loss dropped their record down to 22-11. As for Newbury Park, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-17.

Paloma Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newbury Park, they will take on Oak Park at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
